:::::::::::::Brown got 'em all sick:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Today is the 2nd day Brown's been out sick...he's got a cold or the flu or some other bug he picked up from his students or maybe even a combination of the above...Around 11am, I get a call on my cell from the school, "Ms. Banks? Hi, yes, I need you to come get the children..."

-all of them?
-yes, they're all sick.
-that was Mr. Brown
-yes, the girls mentioned their uncle was
sick

-so, you need me to come get them
-yes, please
-okay, I'm on the way

Lord! deliver me from the illness that is plaguing my house! You know that I catch every bug within a 5 mile radius of my person. Lord, you know I don't need to get sick! Lord, heal these children! I don't need them to miss much more of school. They need to be back in school! In Jesus' name, Amen.

::::::::::::::Suggestions, please::::::::::::::::::::::

Okay, I created a blog dedicated to trivial bits of information about myself. Aiya! Now I need to think of things that are even the slightest bit interesting about myself. Any suggestions?

::::Japanese Name Generator::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Okay, my brother's blog has a link to a Japanese Name Generator. I did all my siblings and my names (first, middle, last) to see what they would be. ^-^ Here they are from the oldest to youngest, including mine:

Izumi Ajibana, Tsukiyama Aizawa, Fujimaro Endo,
Hana Hirase, Hachemon Akatsuka, and Michizane Hiroyuki

What's interesting is that on my brother's blog, his name is Fujiko Endo, so I am assuming he didn't select male before generating his name. If you are female, select bishoujo (pretty girl). Try it! ^-^ Leave me a comment to let me know what your Japanese name is. If you know of a Chinese name generator, leave its URL. ^-^ I also did my four girls (listed oldest to youngest), and they are:

Kadiri Idane, Arisa Baisotei, Chiaki Marubeni, and Inoue Marubeni

It's funny that Adrienne's name begins with K, Karina's name begins with A, and only my youngest two girls have the same last name and no one else does. ^-^
My tetsuliu is 橡膠果實.

::::::a bit of fluff::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I finally decided to click the next blog link to see what would turn up and on one I found a cute li'l age blogthingy:

You Are 24 Years Old

24

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

What Age Do You Act?
I guess the age above accurately reflects how I feel about life at this point in time. I've always felt younger than I am...I still need to learn how to handle insecurity and self doubt and all that other stuff that usually is termed teen angst. I really need to get over it, already! Don't you think? Thought you'd agree with me.

genius, or lack thereof

Seems, as a country, we are obsessed with intelligence. Crave to have baby geniuses, so we start "teaching" as soon as they come out the womb. Was on the American Baby magazine site and there was an article about recognizing the early signs your child may be gifted.

Is Your Child a Genius?
By Kristen Finello
Signs that your child maybe be gifted.

According to the National Association for Gifted Children, approximately 5 percent -- or three million children -- in the U.S. are considered gifted. How can your tell if your child is one of them? Here are some of the early signs of a gifted preschooler, from the American Association of Gifted Children at Duke University:

Learns quickly and remembers easily

Seems mature for his or her age

Has a large vocabulary, displays an unusual interest in words, or already reads independently

Experiments to solve problems

Prefers older playmates

Seems sensitive

Exhibits intellectual curiosity

Shows compassion for people or animals

Enjoys puzzles, mazes, and numbers

Questions authority

Seems to get bored easily

Has a high energy level

If you child has several of these characteristics, consider having her assessed by a child development expert. You can also help nurture her natural talents by reading to her and introducing her to interests such as art, music, nature, and sports.

So, you assess your child and think Wow! I have a genius on my hands. Now what? I think that there are other qualities that are just as important, if not more so, that need to be nourished and developed. BTW I started reading at two and have always scored at genius level on IQ tests, but that doesn't say much for the choices I have made in life or give an indication of my "success" in life, thus far. So, take all that with a grain of salt.

~weird~

Went to cool counters to get the free Hello Kitty visitor counter for this blog. When I came back to blogger to paste the html code in the template, I had like iounno 12 blogs named Dana's Coolest Sister. What happened was when I was creating this blog, I kept getting message that the web address was already taken. So, I kept on thinking up names and they kept getting rejected, until finally sucess with this blog. It must have been a server error, since they were created. Oh well...

All things must come to an end

Well, I deleted my two Xangas...that era has come to an end. Not sure what I want to do with this blog that will be different from my aol blog, though. Maybe, it's like having a spare journal to record my thoughts, so things may be regurgitated from one to the other--who knows? I haven't thought it all the way through. Wonder if I have the Hello Kitty images saved on a disc somewhere or did I lose them? Aiya!

And a bit more fluff

From Xanga: Etiquette IQ

10 to 16 Points: A Regular Miss Manners
You're ready to take tea at Buckingham Palace, do dinner at the White House, Waltz with the diplomats at an embassy ball. Mom, you can hold your own in even the stickiest of situations, relying on tried and true etiquette to guide you along. Now the trick is to tutor your children in these same niceties that allow you to take charge of every social situation with grace and style.
After taking the TV mom quiz, couldn't resist to see where my etiquette IQ was. Glad to see that reading Miss Manners paid off!! Knew that this is where I would fall b/c when my father came down to see Lourdes and took the whole gang to dinner, the following faux pas grated severely on my nerves:
a) someone ordered a more expensive entree than the host, my father, without his expressed permission--you always wait until the host orders and never order anything more expensive, unless the host says it is okay.
b) not really an etiquette faux pas, but a pet peeve: How are you going to order the most expensive entree of the entire party and then not eat it all, trying to be cute? Ugh! I hate fakers who fawn, "Oh! I can't possibly eat that much!" Then come home and fix something to eat b/c they are hun-gray (not hungry, but hun-gray).
c) After my father said that he wanted all the children (including Adrienne, Karina, and Wilson) to order from the Kids' Menu, there was grumbling about, "Wilson usually orders Buffalo Wings." Okay, when YOU are footing the bill, order that, but when you are being hosted, you defer to the host.
But, being the polite lady that I am, I didn't point out bad manners (that would be rude and ill mannered) or say anything. Now, if only my girls could be the polite, well-mannered ladies they could be...

Xanga: Which TV MOM are you?

::Which TV MOM are you?::
Been awhile since I have been online and posted an entry. Today, I took an online quiz and was very surprised to learn that I am...
Carol Brady of The Brady Bunch (15 to 24 points)
For children of the 1970s, Carol Brady personified the all-American mother. She was always perfectly dressed and coiffed. She was the stylish Mom every kid wished for. Breakfast was always ready and waiting for the family. The house was always perfectly clean. She was always home to greet the kids when they returned from school. Sure, she had the help in the form of Alice, but that's not the point—Mom was always making sure everything was perfect. Carol may have been doing what society expected of her. As a modern domestic goddess, you do it because you want to. You can make a terrific breakfast in the morning, nurse your daughter's scraped knee in the afternoon and help your son with his math homework in the evening. Other Mom matches: Shirley Partridge of The Partridge Family; Marion Cunningham of Happy Days; June Cleaver of Leave it to Beaver Polar opposite: Marie Barone of Everybody Loves Raymond
I don't understand how I match with Carol, Shirley, Marion or June. I mean Adrienne, Karina, and Wilson have to fend for themselves when it comes to breakfast. And, God bless the child that wakes me up in the morning for any reason!! But, I am the homework helper type. But, it must be true--Kennetta dubbed me Queen Mother.

Frederick Douglas quote

This, too, is from my Xanga.
Saturday, April 10, 2004

Okay, I finally decided that this journal is going to have quotes and some random blather from moi. Okay, here goes...

People in general will say they like colored men as well as any other, but in their proper place. they assign us that place; they don't let us do it ourselves nor will they allow us a voice in the decision. they will not allow that we have a head to think, and a heart to feel, and a soul to aspire...that's the way we are liked. you degrade us and then ask why we are degraded-you shut our mouths and then ask why we don't speak-you close your colleges and seminaries against us, and then ask why we don't know more. --Frederick Douglass in one of his first recorded antislavery speeches, as quoted by Don't Know Much About American History
I think that this is pretty much true today as well. I mean there is all this talk about equality, etc. When it comes to actuality, though, it just isn't there. White people can do and be without ever having to take into consideration the ramifications of their actions. Black people are always trying to present themselves in ways to uphold the race or acting plumb crazy in defiance of the notion that upholding the race is necessary.

Now for a bit of fluff

Again, posts from my Xanga...
Took another quiz and yes! I am Hello Kitty!! I just love Hello Kitty!!

Couldn't add the link for this "what sanrio character are you" quiz, though. *pouts* Oh boo hoo!

I just took this quiz and I am a candy necklace. I am not clingy!! Am I?

What candy are you?

Okay, I am trying to find xangas to subscribe to, but only managed to find these cutie quizzes. Like, which Disney Princess are you?

I wanted to beI'm Mulan!, but when I took the quiz I found out I am I'm Belle!!! Me? Stubborn?

One of my first posts to one of my Xangas

Saturday, March 27, 2004
I had something in mind to write, but now that my fingers are tickling the ivories, so to speak, I am at a loss for words. Cannot recall what I wanted to impart to you, my reading audience. Oh well. Guess that is what comes of aging. Oh! that I could not grow up! But, alas, I am, as my sissy Dana says, a million kabillion years old. Or whatever she said. I am glad that she looks up to me and thinks that I am cool; however, I pray that she doesn't make the unwise choices that I have made. It is the same with my daughters. I am open with them; as much as their age will allow. Because, I want to try to prevent them from making my mistakes. I realize that children have minds of their own and will do as they will. I can only pray that they will always feel that they can come to me with whatever is on their minds.

And, this still holds true today. I want for my sister Dana and my four daughters to be able to come to me to talk about anything they have on their minds. I also want them to learn from my mistakes, so that they won't make them themselves-learn from my experiences and go on to bigger, better things.

Hello and Welcome!!

I don't know why, but I have created a bunch of online journals. Guess because each one serves a different purpose. My aol blog is the one that I post to more regularly b/c that is my internet provider. Then I have another blogger blog for my growth in Christianity. This blog will take the place of my two Xangas b/c I like blogger better, so I'll transfer whatever of those posts I like here or maybe not. Iounno. This really will be a supplemental generic blog to hold all my sophomoric rants, raves, blather, and musings. I'll probably be my own reader and that is okay with me.
